Cryptocurrency Markets Stagnate as Bitcoin Remains at $19K

Bitcoin is stuck in a rut. The world’s largest cryptocurrency by market cap was trading at around $ 19,350 on Wednesday, according to CoinMarketCap. That’s roughly the same price point it has been hovering around for the past two weeks.

The stagnation in bitcoin prices comes as the broader cryptocurrency market continues to bleed value. As of this writing, the total market cap of all digital currencies has fallen to $160 billion from its all-time high of $276 billion earlier this month, according to CoinMarketCap.

Bitcoin remains the most valuable cryptocurrency by far, with a market cap of $114 billion. However, bitcoin’s share of all cryptocurrencies has fallen from 87% at its peak in December 2017 down to just 31% today.
